Cate Adlam BSc. PGradDipAud. – Principal Audiologist (Non Clinical)
Cate is the principal audiologist and proprietor of Vivid Hearing. She is an independent audiologist who cares about you and your communication success. Cate is university trained and has over 15 years experience in the hearing industry, working with both adults and children. After completing her Bachelor of Science and Post Graduate Diploma in Audiology at Curtin University in Perth, Cate began her audiology career in Tasmania. She spent 31/2 years in Tasmania working for the Commonwealth Government, Australian Hearing.
This was a fantastic grounding due to the fact that Tasmania has very few audiologists. This meant Cate was required to service all the community’s hearing needs and it allowed her to thoroughly develop her audiological skills for the adult, paediatric and industrial specialties.
After 31/2 years in Tasmania, Cate decided to move back to Perth to defrost, the long cold winters getting the better of her. She continued to work for Australian Hearing for another 3 years in the Perth metro area and undertook a variety of roles over this time, including: paediatric specialist, hearing aid technology specialist, acting hearing centre manager and a clinical advising role that provided training and quality assurance monitoring for all clinicians within the organization.
After 6 1/2 years with the Government, Cate decided to concentrate on her main passion, which was prescribing and fitting hearing aids.
She moved into the private sector to work solely with adults which allowed her to pursue this area. Cate worked for Hearing Life for 6 years, which is the retail arm for hearing aid manufacturer, Sonic Innovations. She thoroughly enjoyed the customers, staff and the organisation. This company was the first company in the world to offer a complete range of fully digital hearing aids to their customers, from the base product to the top of the range. Since then, the technology in digital hearing aids has advanced incredibly.
Over this time the industry has changed and many small independent hearing centres have been bought out by the large hearing aid manufacturers. This has resulted in many clinics only fitting one brand of hearing aid. Cate felt that this lack of choice was adversely affecting the customer experience and decided to open her own independent clinic which has allowed her to fit the best hearing aids on the market, at any given time. This freedom means that Cate and Vivid Hearing can offer real choice and her clients will always get the best product for their needs rather than the best product from one manufacturer’s list.
As Cate is the principal audiologist and owner of Vivid Hearing she takes responsibility for every experience customers have at Vivid Hearing. Cate prides herself on striving to restore old fashion customer service to the industry, she wants people to have an enjoyable, positive and successful experience at her clinic. Cate has made a commitment to connect you with only the best professional Audiologists Perth has to offer.
Cate currently holds a management only role within Vivid Hearing.

Carolyn Pimm, BScHon, MClinAud, MAudA(CCP) – Audiologist
Carolyn joined Vivid Hearing in February 2016. After graduating from the University of Western Australia with her Master of Clinical Audiology with Distinction in 2013, Carolyn worked for Australian Hearing for 2 years. During this time, Carolyn gained a wealth of experience and competence through developing her audiological skills in adult hearing rehabilitation and the fitting of digital hearing aids. She also undertook additional training to become a specialist in complex adult cases, assisting clients with additional issues that further impacted on their hearing loss. A strong interest in tinnitus management and counselling prompted Carolyn to undertake additional training in this area, to further assist her clients. A keen desire to provide her clients with access to the best available current hearing aid technology and assistive listening devices lead Carolyn to take up a position with Vivid Hearing. A private hearing clinic that offers product choice and a client-focused approach is aligned with Carolyn’s core values.
Prior to working in audiology, Carolyn completed a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours and worked in research science for 16 years.
